The Persecutor Turns Preacher and God is Glorified (Galatians 1:18-24)
March 3, 2013 Preacher: Bob DeWaay Series: Galatians
Scripture: Galatians 1:18–24
This message is about the gospel and Paul's relationship to the apostles in Jerusalem and how the report of his conversion impacted the churches of Judea. As throughout this epistle, Paul defends himself against false accusers who claimed that Paul got his gospel second hand from associates of the apostles in Jerusalem and got it wrong. Paul counters with a pre-emptive oath that this is false: Paul did not go to Jerusalem after his conversion until after 3 years. He got his gospel directly from the resurrected Christ. The word about his conversion from persecutor to preacher brought glory to God. We discuss false versions of the gospel that are popular today which are designed to please humans rather than bring glory to God.
