People of Faith or Bewitched Fools?

June 23, 2013 Preacher: Bob DeWaay

Scripture: Galatians 3:1–3:5

Paul's startling words are designed to shock the Galatians into soberly facing the danger and consequences of adding works to grace. "Foolish" means "without understanding" in a morally culpable way. "Bewitched" means to be under a spell. In this case, Satan has launched an attack against the cross. Paul uses a series of rhetorical questions to urge the Galatians to contemplate the consequences of their wrong beliefs and practices. The key issue brought out in this sermon is that sanctification proceeds by grace through faith on the same grounds as justification.
