The Law Drives Us to the Promises of God (Galatians 3:19 - 22)
September 1, 2013 Preacher: Bob DeWaay Series: Galatians
Scripture: Galatians 3:19–22
This sermon is about the relationship of Law to the promises of God. The fact that Law cannot save us does not imply that it had no purpose. God uses it to drive us to the gospel promise. It has a subordinate and lesser role, but nevertheless an important one. There is an "until" in regard to the Law. When the Seed (the promised Messiah) comes we have the fulfillment of promise and die to the Law. The Law has revealed the depth of our sin. This passage even says that we were "imprisoned" by the Law. Now we have the promise. We also discuss the role of promise in our sanctification.
