The Fullness of Time (Galatians 4:4-7)
October 27, 2013 Preacher: Bob DeWaay Series: Galatians
Scripture: Galatians 4:4–7
Galatians 4:4 is a key passage in Galatians about the doctrine of Christ. Jesus, the "sent One" existed from all eternity. The Son was sent in time according to God's eternal purpose. His deity is implied in His pre-existence and His humanity is stated by the phrase "born of a woman." Born under the law refers to Jesus' unique relationship to the Law: He perfectly kept it which no other person has done or could do. This glorious section of Scripture continues with the wonderful benefit of grace: adoption as sons. This implies full participation of being heirs of God and the redemption we have in Christ. The work of the Spirit in all these benefits is highlighted. All of the blessings are true of all who truly believe the gospel.
