The Galatians' Previous Reception of Paul and His Gospel
December 8, 2013 Preacher: Bob DeWaay
Scripture: Galatians 4:12–4:15
This passage is about the loving manner in which the Galatians had received Paul and his gospel. In the first imperative in Galatians, Paul says "become like me." This means "free from the Law." Paul was not a polished rhetorician like the Greek sophists. He came as someone "weak" but with a powerful message: the gospel. We discuss the alluring nature of false teachers who promote law-works rather than grace. They want to be unauthorized law-givers. True knowledge and wisdom are found in the gospel. We explain the meaning of the phrase "the law of Christ" as used by Paul. We are to care for one another.
