The Call to Join the Sufferings of Christ (Mark 7:1-8)
January 19, 2014 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Mark
Scripture: Mark 10:35–45
In Mark 10:35-45 we witness James and John ask Jesus to be placed in positions of honor when they enter into glory with Him. Jesus responds by explaining that true greatness for His disciples is defined by service and suffering -- not status. We also explore how the N.T. writers understood the sufferings of believers. The apostles were very clear that Christians suffer not to earn any merit before God, but we suffer because we are with the One who suffered once and for all on our behalf.
