Galatians 5:19-21
The works of the flesh are listed here to warn us how not to live. The conflict goes on for the Christian. Claims of perfection that have been made by some are false. The list of vices describes religious values and practices of the pagans. The works of the flesh list contains spiritual and mental activities. This means that schemes of anatomical sanctification are false, the whole person is involved. The pagans imagined the afterlife to be like their wild religious services which were horribly wicked. The heart is wicked, but God knows the heart and has provided a means of salvation through Christ.
