We Can Be Certain That Jesus Is Both Lord and Christ (Mark 12:35-37)
July 6, 2014 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Mark
Scripture: Mark 12:35–37
In Mark 12:35-37 we see Jesus challenge the leadership of Israel about their understanding of who Messiah would be. It was common among the Israelites in Jesus' day to acknowledge that the Messiah would come from the lineage of David, but few realized that this Messiah had to be God as well. Jesus is going to use Psalm 110:1 to prove that the Messiah who was a son of David was also David's Lord! We will examine in this message how the New Testament writers used Psalm 110:1 to prove that Jesus is Lord and Christ as well as our eternal priest and king. In our postmodern world that denies the ability to know anything for sure Psalm 110:1 echoes loudly as a correction from God who gives proof that Jesus is His Son.
