Jesus: King of the Jews on Trial

April 12, 2015 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Mark

Scripture: Mark 15:1-15

In this message we explore how Christ remained silent before His accusers. This was prophesied in Isaiah 53:7 and was necessary for our salvation. Jesus, being God, is the best debater in the world. If He was too successful in His defense, He would have gotten Himself off of the cross and there would be no atonement for believers. We also discuss in this message the fact that Pilate was "amazed" at Jesus' silence before His accusers. We learn that amazement is a theme that runs throughout the book of Mark as people are astounded by Christ's display of divinity. Come and hear why God requires faith in rather than mere amazement of His Son.
