False teachers say they are enlightened but are actually in spiritual darkness. True conversion is turning from darkness to light. When someone is converted, he or she needs the fellowship of other Christians. They share the reality of walking in spiritual light. The world will accept false Christs or the “Christ consciousness” but not Christ crucified. When we are still in darkness we are blind and thus disoriented. Jesus told Paul in Acts 26:18 that He came to turn us from darkness to light.
