In Romans 4:17-25 Paul qualifies what saving faith looks like by using Abraham as an example of a person who lived by faith and not by sight. The circumstances in Abraham’s life indicated that he and his wife would never be able to conceive the promised son because of their age. Paul shows us, however, that Abraham believed the promises of God despite what he saw in the circumstances of his life. Paul’s words are a strong correction to so many in our culture today who rely upon trying to know God through extra-biblical means. Listen and learn what it means to live by faith and not by sight.
