John identifies the liar is the one who denies Christ. We emphasize how critically important confession of Christ is. We cannot refuse to confess Christ and claim to have a right relationship with God. False religions always have a false Christ. Many people have no interest in learning Christian doctrine because they deem it impractical. We refute that idea. If eternity is important, which it is, then having a true doctrine of Christ that we confess is supremely practical. We must come to Christ and trust Him alone.
