Christian love is defined by the laid down life of Christ. Christ’s self-sacrifice is redemptive. We are to lay down our lives for the brothers, to show that we are the redeemed. Only Christ is the sinless Savior. John admonishes us to take action to practice Christian love to the Lord’s flock. We need to not allow ourselves to become hard hearted because people misapply this. In John 10 Jesus is described as the good shepherd who lays down His life for His precious flock. We are admonished to gather as that flock so that we can practice being kind and caring for one another. We also need to engage in productive activity so that we can be those who can help those in need.
