Even those who truly know God can have concerns about their status before God. We see that God has called us to take action to show Christian love to help set our hearts at ease. The truly redeemed have love for their fellow Christians. But if we still are troubled about our status before God, we should go to the objective promises of God and trust what Christ has done for us. John makes it clear that there are two categories of people, those who are lawless and those who abide in Christ. Those who abide have evidence that they are indeed ‘of the truth.’ It is clear that God is the heart-knower and He alone can change the human heart.
