How to Test the Spirits (1 John 4:1-3)
March 5, 2017 Preacher: Bob DeWaay Series: Epistles of John
Scripture: 1 John 4:1-3
We are clearly told not to believe every spirit. There are many teachings coming to us that claim to be from God. Religious talk does not prove that something is from God. False prophets speak from a spiritual source that is not from God. The Holy Spirit will always motivate the confession of Christ according to the truth about Christ revealed in the bible. Likewise, failure to confess Christ shows that the Holy Spirit is not at work in such religious situations. Preachers change the message and do not confess Christ so that the world will listen to them. Also, merely repeating religious liturgy is not a valid replacement for true confession of Christ.
