Christ Came to Make Us God’s Firstborn (Hebrews 1:6)
December 23, 2018 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Topical
Scripture: Hebrews 1:6
In this topical message we examine why Jesus is called God’s “firstborn” Son. I trace this concept through the Old Testament to show that the firstborn in the Ancient Near East was the one who had the inheritance rights of his father. We also learn that the firstborn son represented his family before God. With this in mind we see how extraordinary it is that God would sacrifice His “firstborn” as a substitute for our sins. We learn at the conclusion of this message that Christ’s sacrifice enables every believer to be considered God’s “firstborn” as well. Come and learn for yourself how through faith in Christ you now have the inheritance rights of our heavenly Father.
