The Role of Women in the Church (1 Timothy 2:9-15)
January 27, 2019 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: First and Second Timothy
Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:9-15
In this message taken from 1 Tim. 2:9-15 we examine the role of women in the church. We learn that even though men and women have different roles, they are of equal value before God. Paul explains that women cannot function as elders or teachers of men in the local church. Feminists and egalitarians today claim that this restriction by Paul was limited to the culture of Paul’s day, but Paul cited the creation and fall of mankind to demonstrate this is a universal principle for all Christians for all time (until Christ returns). We also examine how there are different roles within the Trinity, yet there remains complete equality among the Godhead. This proves that having different roles does not necessitate having less value or worth.
