The Church’s Care for Widows (1 Timothy 5:3-16)
July 7, 2019 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: First and Second Timothy
Scripture: 1 Timothy 5:3-16
In this message taken from 1 Timothy 5:3-16 we examine how the church should care for widows. Paul explains the qualifications of genuine widows that the church should financially support while disqualifying other widows for support. We also learn that every person has a duty before God to care for their biological family members. We learn from this that the Bible elevates a work ethic in which men and women don’t remain idle, but they instead learn how to work and care for their families. Come and hear how the church takes care of believing widows who have no one else to care for them.
