Why Was Jesus Baptized? Matthew 3:13-17
January 16, 2022 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Matthew
Scripture: Matthew 3:13-17
In this message taken from Matthew 3:13-17 we answer the question, “why was Jesus baptized?” We learn in this message that baptism indicates identity and solidarity with those who are baptized together. Just as believers identify with Christ in baptism, we learn in this message that Christ first identified with us by being baptized. We also learn that Matthew deliberately depicts Jesus as the faithful son that Israel was not. This explains why Christ must be identified with His people. He must do for us what we cannot do for ourselves.
