To Fast or Not to Fast?: Matthew 6:16-18
October 9, 2022 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Matthew
Scripture: Matthew 6:16-18
In this message taken from Matthew 6:16-18, we examine whether or not a Christian must fast (abstain from foods) in order to please God. We conclude that fasting is a Christian liberty issue which means that we are free to fast or not to fast. We find that Jesus’ instructions about fasting were probably given not to ensure His disciples fasted, but the instruction was given to ensure they fasted with the right motivation. We also learn that while fasting was commanded on the Day of Atonement under the Mosaic Covenant, there is no fast required of New Testament believers. Come and hear for yourself the freedom you have regarding food and fasting by being in Jesus Christ by faith.
