In this message taken from Matthew 7:24-27 we learn from Jesus that we must build our house upon the “rock.” We show that Jesus’ building metaphor is chosen deliberately since building a house requires planning. Jesus’ followers must be intentional about planning their eternal destiny upon the rock which is Christ Himself. We show in our application of this passage the rich Old Testament background to the “rock” metaphor. The “Rock” of Israel provided drink for them in the wilderness (Numbers 20:8), mediated for Moses on Mount Sinai (Exodus 33), and was the “Rock” of refuge for David (2 Samuel 22).
