Jesus Teaches as One Having Authority: Matthew 7:28-29

In this message taken from Matthew 7:28-29 we examine the reaction of the unbelieving crowd to Jesus’ teaching on the Sermon on the Mount. We first learn that even though the crowd is “amazed” at Jesus’ teaching, there is no evidence that they have saving faith. We also show three other passages in Matthew where the crowd is “amazed” yet remains in unbelief. We also examine how Jesus’ authority, revealed through His teaching, proved that He was the long-awaited prophet foretold by Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15, and it also proved that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah of Daniel 7 who has all authority in heaven and on the earth.
