The theme of this section is that every member of the body of Christ is gifted with purpose of benefiting the entire body. The theme is revealed by the Greek word translated “each one” and the statements that this is God’s doing.

Much of the sermon focuses on Paul’s possible meaning of faith as a gift some members have been given. Since all Christians have saving faith or they would not be part of the body. We discuss Paul’s use of faith that would move mountains in 1 Corinthians 13:2 and its meaning.

Such faith implies that some have faith that God will remove mountains which signify obstacles to Messianic salvation. There are passages in Isaiah about this which are referenced in Luke in regard to bringing salvation to needy and unexpected people in the context of much serious opposition.

Examples from Luke show this theme where God brings salvation to the lowly and needy despite serious opposition. The term for healings is relatively rare in the New Testament and denotes “cures” be they natural remedies, medical cures, or supernatural healing. God uses means to bring healing to those who need it using members of the body of Christ.
