Today Is the Day of Salvation: Matthew 12:43-45
October 6, 2024 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Matthew
Scripture: Matthew 12:43-45
In this message, taken from Matthew 12:43-45, we learn how exorcisms and being “vacant” of demons does not replace the necessity of conversion and being “filled” by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus uses the analogy of a demon possessed man who was set free of his demon, yet because he remained an unbeliever, he was repossessed by seven more demons. Jesus concludes that this man’s “last state was worse than his first” (Matt. 12:45).
Jesus uses this analogy to show how this generation of unbelievers is also worse off than before Messiah came since they squandered the great evidence of Christ’s messianic credentials and remained in unbelief.
We conclude from this that we must not push salvation off to the future since we too could be hardened against the gospel. We call on everyone to understand that today is the day of salvation.
