God Sent His Son at the Fullness of Time: Galatians 4:4-7

This sermon explores many nuances and implications of Paul’s statement about the sending of the Son at the fullness of time. We cover the context in Galatians as well as the greater Biblical context of the promises of God. The first promise is found in Genesis 3:15 where Scripture mentions the Seed of the woman which is Christ who will defeat Satan.

Galatians 3 & 4 state that we were under bondage in various ways. We show how God gave a complete change of status for those who are heirs through Christ. The sending of the Son, born of a woman and born under the Law brought radical change for those who believe in Christ.

Our status changes from being in bondage and facing God’s judgment to being His adopted sons. The promise includes a familial relationship in which believers cry, “Abba! Father.”  Being heirs implies not only eternal life, but an inheritance which God promises to those who know Him through Christ.
