Christ’s Apostles: Scribes of the New Covenant: Matthew 13:51-53
January 12, 2025 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Matthew
Scripture: Matthew 13:51-53
In this message, taken from Matthew 13:51-53, we learn that Jesus’ apostles are the true scribes that Israel’s scribes never were. We learn that because Jesus’ apostles had been given understanding of Christ’s parables about the kingdom, they understand both the Old Testament expectations as well as Christ fulfillment in the New Covenant.
In this message we learn how the New Testament writers understood the relationship between the Old Covenant and the New. We learn that the apostles repudiated the Mosaic Law as a binding legal code, replaced it with the New Covenant, but they kept the Old Testament as Scripture that taught the doctrines of Christ.
