This sermon explores the relationship between Agape love which is the subject of 1 Corinthians 13 and “the truth” which is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13:6. The key point is that the many faceted love of God in Christ is part of the full revelation of Christ taught in Scripture.

We warn against the tendency to hide some of the truth in order to present what some consider a more loving version of Christianity. By emphasizing God’s love and rejecting His justice and wrath against sin, some think they create a more palatable version of Christ.

But we cannot do this since everything revealed about the truth of Jesus Christ is to be publicly preached. God uses the preaching of Christ to save the lost. In this message we show the same Jesus Christ whose love is extolled in the Bible is also the exclusive Savior who claimed to be ‘the way the truth and the life.”

We also teach about the Biblical doctrine of the church as the body of Christ.  We are to “speak the truth in love” as Paul teaches in Ephesians 5:16. He will build His church and those who are redeemed are corporately part of Christ’s body.
