Understanding the Rare Call to Celibacy
Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Matthew Scripture: Matthew 19:10–12
In this message, taken from Matthew 19:10-12, Jesus answers the disciples' question regarding remaining unmarried. Jesus explains that remaining single is only for some people whom God enables to remain faithful while restraining their sexual desires.
We examine in our applications why it is evil to forbid people from getting married, but we also explain how the apostle Paul teaches that remaining single can be a blessing as a person is free from family obligations to serve the Lord.
Finally, we explain that whether single or married, we should all strive to be faithful to Christ, serve Him, and live for His eternal kingdom.
