The Messiah Comes to His Temple

In this message, taken from Matthew 21:12-17, we witness Jesus enter the temple to cleanse it of unscrupulous merchants. While in the temple, Jesus also heals the blind and lame proving He's the Messiah fulfilling Isaiah 35:5-6.

Matthew's point is that Jesus fulfills every prophecy and pattern prophesied in the Old Testament. Jesus, for example, fulfills Zechariah 14:21 which foretells of a day in which the Messiah will remove the "Merchant" (often rendered "Canaanite" in our English versions).

Jesus is also depicted by Matthew as fulfilling Malachi 3:1 in which the Messiah comes suddenly to His temple to cleanse it. Ultimately, these prophecies will be fulfilled at Christ's second coming, but Jesus is giving a down payment now at His first coming in order to prove His messianic credentials.

The question for Israel and for us still today is, "Will you believe the obvious: That Jesus of Nazareth alone is the fulfillment of all the predictions and patterns of the Old Testament proving He alone is the Messiah, Savior, Son of God, and Lord of all.
