The Ascension and Session of Jesus at the Right Hand of God Acts 2:33-39

October 13, 2013 Speaker: Bob DeWaay Series: Acts of the Apostles

Scripture: Acts 2:33–2:39

We discuss the importance of Psalm 110:1 in Christian theology and how it is highly emphasized in the New Testament. Christ ascended bodily into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, sends the Holy Spirit, intercedes for us, and will bodily return for us. We also discuss how we can discern a true work of the Holy Spirit: He, the Spirit, testifies of Christ. Christians are indwelt by the Spirit and therefore the preaching of Christ and the Word of God according to the author's intent will always work together within the believer to sanctify us. We also discuss the importance of preaching repentance and the terms for the forgiveness of sins. These are emphasized in Luke/Acts. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin through gospel preaching as He did on the Day of Pentecost.
