In Revelation 1:9-20 we encounter Jesus commissioning John to write what he saw in his vision after he was banished to the island of Patmos. We also witness, in this passage, John heaping up numerous descriptions of Christ that come straight from Old Testament prophecies which are designed to prove that Jesus has the right to rule. We also encounter numerous sub-doctrines in this passage including tribulation, perseverance, and what it means to be a partaker of the kingdom of God through faith in Jesus.
