God gave the apostles boldness to preach Christ in the face of hostile opposition. That Christians have boldness when the Holy Spirit is at work in them is a theme throughout Acts. The disciples did have a good education gained by spending three years being trained by Jesus Christ. Sound arguments in support of the truth will often silence those in opposition. We see that at the very end of Acts Paul is showing evidence for the truth of the gospel.
