In God’s providence, persecution that happened after the martyrdom of Stephen scattered (literally “planted”) the church throughout Judea and Samaria. This is how Acts 1:8 continued to be fulfilled. We discuss how God’s providence brings the gospel to those who will hear. Our duty is to be faithful to preach it. It is also important to not allow the events of life to make us bitter. Instead we should look for how God will use us to share Christ with others. How people listen will determine if they are saved or hardened.
