Saul’s Conversion Part 2 (Acts 9:5-9)

Speaker: Bob DeWaay Series: Acts of the Apostles Scripture: Acts 9:5-9

We see how conversion is a sovereign act of God. Paul was directly confronted by the ascended Christ in a theophany. The Jews were not expecting a suffering Messiah, though the OT predicted one. They instead expected the Messiah who would sit on David’s throne and reign. The resurrection of Christ proves that the suffering Servant prophecies such as those in Isaiah 53 were fulfilled in Christ’s first advent. The revelatory aspect of this theophany was for Saul, but his traveling companions heard the sound. We finish this class with a discussion of Deuteronomy 29:29 and how it applies to what we can and cannot know.
