Forgiveness of sins is offered to all who will repent and believe the gospel. The term “forgiveness” means “release.” God releases repentant sinners who believe in Christ from slavery to sin. We discuss how turning to Christ removes us from Satan’s domain. Release is not merely about individual sins, but a “release” from Satan’s domain. When God poured out His Holy Spirit on the Gentiles Peter preached to, the Jewish believers were amazed. This was despite the fact that God had promised to do just that all the way back to the prophets.
