Luke emphasizes the forgiveness of sins. We discuss how important this topic of “release” is to Luke by his use of the term translated “forgiveness” in key passages of Luke/Acts. As Peter preached forgiveness through Christ, the Holy Spirit fell on his Gentile audience the Holy Spirit fell on them with the same manifestation the Jews experienced in Acts 2. This is not “second blessing” as some claim but a sign that God had accepted Gentile believers on the same basis as He did Jewish believers. We also discuss the common wrong idea that all people are “children of God.” John 1:12, 13 shows that one must believe in Christ and come to Him on His terms to be a child of God. God saves unexpected people and no one should hinder those who would come to Christ.
