The Divine Council: Authority in the Unseen Realm

The book of Job gives us information about the divine council in the unseen realm. There we see Satan accusing Job of having bad motives and only serving God for the benefits. This class discusses Satan’s role as the adversary and accuser. In the end, Job comes to know more about God and does trust in Him.

Likewise, in Zechariah 3, Satan accuses the high priest at the time of the rebuilding of the temple. It is important to note that “Yahweh” said to Satan “Yahweh rebukes you...” We have a robust discussion about the impertinence of humans pushing themselves into a realm where they do not belong in order to deal with the spirits and Satan. It is God’s place to preside over His council, not ours. We have a tremendous benefit of having access to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16) where we can ask God to come to our aid. Those who think they have to rebuke Satan and demons are showing unbelief as if they do not think God can be trusted to do come to their aid.
