Preaching in Public Forums: Acts 19:9-10 & Others In Acts

April 17, 2022 Speaker: Bob DeWaay Series: Acts of the Apostles

Scripture: Acts 19:9-10

This teaching begins with Acts 19:9-10 and then traces this them by examining the content of Paul's preaching in other passages where he testifies before various authorities. These included Felix, Festus and Aggripa. Citing passages later in Acts as well from Luke, we see that the great commission was fulfilled through God's means. Jesus told His disciples that they would be "brought before kings" and that this was for a testimony of the gospel. In Acts 23:11 the Lord stood at Paul's side and told him that he must witness in Rome also. Paul's boldness in public forums was grounded in the conviction that he would be used to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth. In the various passages we cover, Paul preaches repentance, the resurrection (every time), future judgment, and did so using "true and rational" words. God used the former enemy of Christ to become His apostle who boldly testified before Jews, Gentiles and civil authorities.
