Paul's Testimony: Acts 22:6-18
May 12, 2024 Speaker: Bob DeWaay Series: Acts of the Apostles
Scripture: Acts 22:6-18
As Paul gives his testimony before the Jewish authorities, he mentions Ananias as a devout Jew. Paul does not go into the detail which Luke does when describing how Ananias was willing to pray for Paul.
Paul emphasizes the divine initiative in sovereignly converting him. Paul was not subject to “wooing” but a powerful intervention which stopped him in his tracks. We discuss the fact that all conversions are a work of God alone, though we like to give humans some credit.
Paul had heard Stephen’s powerful preaching and not only rejected it, but determined to arrest those who did believer. Jesus stopped Paul and called him to be an apostle. Paul was appointed by God. We discuss Paul’s three years in Arabia as mentioned in Galatians 1. Paul was personally taught by the Lord Himself to bring Paul up to the standards of what it means to be an apostle.
