Paul Appeals Based On His Roman Citizenship: Acts 22:23 - 23:8
June 30, 2024 Speaker: Bob DeWaay Series: Acts of the Apostles
Scripture: Acts 22:23–23:8
The Roman commander who ordered Paul flogged found out about Paul’s Roman citizenship and was afraid because he had already put him in chains. What we find out is that this particular man, Claudius Lysias, cared about the facts and was determined to discover them.
We discuss civil authorities and the Christian by also consulting Romans 13:1-6 in that regard. God can give Christians favor in the eyes of authorities according to His providence.
Paul’s appeal process will lead to his testimony before many people. The Jewish leadership is portrayed by Luke as being driven by raw emotion. We discuss God’s providence and how He uses civil government during the present church age.
