Baptism: Our Identity in Christ--Examining the Four Different Views (Reformed) (Pt 3)

March 23, 2025 Speaker: Eric Douma Series: Baptism

In this message we continue to examine the Reformed understanding of baptism. We explain that the central difference between the Reformed and Baptist positions on baptism is over who is a true member of the New Covenant.

The Reformed tradition argues that both believers and their children are members of the New Covenant community just as Israelites and their children were members of the Old Covenant community.

Baptists understand the New Covenant community to be comprised only of believers in Jesus Christ. We begin to refute the Reformed position by showing, from Scripture, that only those who have faith in Christ are members of the New Covenant and therefore the only ones who are to be recipients of baptism.
