Geography & God’s Presence: How We Draw Near to God

April 6, 2025 Speaker: Bob DeWaay Series: Topical

Scripture: Hebrews 4:14-16, Hebrews 9:11-14, Hebrews 10:19-22

This class expounds key texts in the book of Hebrews which describe both access to God and how believers draw near to God. These include Hebrews 4:14-16; 9:11-12; 9:13-14; and 10:19-22. We must draw near by faith through the finished work of Christ.

His blood was shed once for all to cleanse our consciences so that we might serve Christ with full assurance. The term “draw near” is used several times in Hebrews in the context of coming to God through Christ.

We discuss the fact that there is no physical structure humans can create which will make us closer to God than we are in Christ through His finished work. All the grand cathedrals men can construct with religious furniture and icons can make a single person fit to be in God’s presence. Only a saving relationship with Christ through faith can do that.
