Redefining the Church: The Bible, Not Church History, Must Define the Church (Pt 8)
June 1, 2025 Speaker: Bob DeWaay Series: Redefining the Church
The passages in 2 Timothy tell us that some in the visible church are not vessels which are which are truly honoring to the Lord. Those who do know the Lord, i.e. the invisible church, pursue righteousness and have a love for the truth. We also spend some extended time on the foundation the truth that “God has spoken.”
This is established in Hebrews 1:1-2 which shows us that God has spoken to us in His Son in these last days. To demonstrate how this truth is under attack, we study current attacks against language itself and how meaning can be conveyed. If all meaning is tainted by the human interpreter, then nothing clear and binding can be gleaned from the Bible. Minus valid, Biblical revelation, it is impossible to make distinctions between vessels of honor and those of dishonor.
In the progressive scheme of things, all people are part of a process infused by God which is leading to a future paradise without judgment. This is the consequence of panentheistic philosophy. We cite Brian McClaren and others who promote this. We emphasize the importance of teaching the truth in the common vernacular so that the truth can be understood.
