Redefining the Church: The Means of Grace (Pt 13)
Speaker: Bob DeWaay Series: Redefining the Church
This class focuses on the definition and practice of means of grace. We show how means of grace have three essential characteristics: a command from God, a promise from God, and accessibility. We also point out that salvation is by grace through faith and that we do not grow in Christ by works or human innovations. The early church gathered and practiced baptism, the apostle’s teaching, the breaking of bread, and prayer. This was the nature of their fellowship.
We explain Acts 2:41-42 phrase by phrase including the definitions of key Greek terms. We also distinguish between spiritual disciplines which are popularly taught but are not ordained by God. These practices are discovered by spiritual innovators. Many are confused by romanticism and mystical claims. We have a robust group discussion as we define key issues and read various pertinent Scriptures. This will be continued in part 2.
