Living by Faith in the Presence of the Curse (Galatians 3:10-12)
July 28, 2013 Preacher: Bob DeWaay Series: Galatians
Scripture: Galatians 3:10–12
Galatians 3:10 is one of the strongest assertions in the Bible of universal sinfulness and human inability. Perfect obedience to everything in the Law is necessary to avoid the curse of sin. This is not possible for fallen sinners. God's remedy is only through faith in Christ who was sinless and perfectly obeyed God in everything. We must believe in Christ and His work of redemption to escape the curse of the Law and find blessing. Paul cites Habakkuk 2:4 to prove justification by faith. This sermon provides an overview of the Book of Habakkuk by Bob. Habakkuk and other Hebrew prophets asked God about the problem of wickedness, sin, and evil in the world. It is frustrating that many evangelical theologians refuse to accept God's inspired answer to these questions. They prefer to believe the wisdom of men rather than the Word of God who cannot lie. Bob explains the reason for this and point us to God's answer which is not popular with man: the promise of future Messianic salvation.
