The Risk of Hypocritical Judgment (Romans 2:1-4)

November 15, 2015 Preacher: Eric Douma

Scripture: Romans 2:1-4

In Romans 2:1-4 we begin a section where Paul starts addressing problems that have special relevance for the Jew. The Jew, in particular, was predisposed to view Gentiles with contempt because they had neither the Mosaic law nor the promises of the patriarchs. Paul reminds them in this lesson that when they judge others in a hypocritical manner, they are presuming upon God’s grace and fooling themselves into thinking that they will escape the coming wrath. Come and hear for yourself what kind of judgment is prohibited and allowed under the New Covenant.
