To truly be a child of God one has to be born of God. The idea that all humans are God’s children is not taught in Scripture. Salvation is a gift of God. John clearly states that loving God implies loving others who also are born of God. God’s command are for our good and not burdensome. This is in stark contrast to the commands of self-appointed law-givers. Though most people do not receive Christ there is always a remnant of Jews and Gentiles who come to Christ. Jesus offered true rest to anyone who was laboring under the yoke of false religious law-givers. Christ has set believers free and we need to stay that way.
