Baptism as a means of grace does not imply a magical view of baptism. Our doctrine of water baptism must come from Scripture, not church history which is replete with pitfalls. Baptism is a reminder of our faith in the gospel. Baptism signifies death, burial and resurrection. We must beware of trusting sacraments as an excuse for tolerating sin such as idolatry. We have a robust discussion about water baptism and several important implications of the Scriptural support for the practice.
