This begins our study of the book of Genesis. In our first class, we look at the author, the date of composition, the early recipients, the macrostructure, and some of the key themes of this foundational work. We also consider how it fits together with the other four books of the Torah/Pentateuch (i.e., Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy). Lord willing, this should give us a solid basis to better understand God's Word from the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelation. Admittedly, we cover a lot in our first week. However, now, we will have the opportunity to slow down and let it sink in verse-by-verse in the weeks and months and years to come---God permitting!
